Diaphragm Materials: PTFE/TFM vs PE vs Santoprene?
PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene) provides very good overall chemical and heat resistance. TFM is a further-developed, modified PTFE that features even better fatigue properties and stress recovery leading to longer life time. PE (Polyetheylene), UPE (synonym for a range of Ultra-high-molecular-weight Polyethylenes) and Santoprene (a registered trademark and synonym for a range of thermoplastic compounds) offer lower chemical resistance than PTFE/TFM but highest abrasive resistance for longer service life.
Diaphragm Overview: DYI SHENG Diaphragm Pumps
The smaller Dyi Sheng diaphragm pumps, DS03 (3/8″), DS04 (1/2″) and DS06 (3/4″), have one PTFE diaphragm on each side for a total of two (2) diaphragms per pump.
The larger models, DS10 (1″), DS14 (1-1/5″) and DS20 (2″), have one PTFE diaphragm and one TPE (support) diaphragm on each side for a total of four (4) diaphragms per pump.
Polyethylene (UPE – Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) and TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomers) diaphragms are available as options.
